It's tough for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

This is the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the record chasers, are the only things left for a team that has accomplished all there is.

It needed as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's challenging for their batsmen to maintain a record if not afforded the chance.

In the end, the result of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to create her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win arrived three months after her bow and seven world titles have come from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Many contend the argument supporting final game tension. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this innings was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it's been a challenging time because it seemed I lacked timing completely," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and from that point the right-hander was underway.

"An opportunity to take the field and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

When she was out Australia required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the belief to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we believe we can achieve it."

These statements will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this tournament want to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will win from any position has become more firm - this success coming after success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they exited last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So great is her will, she later said she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have pushed back plans to retire, this World Cup is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as skipper.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
